OWENSBORO ISOTOPES R/C CLUB
The Isotopes was founded in the early 1970's. It all started with a small group of model airplane enthusiasts in founding member Bill Earlys basement! Legend has it that someone in this group came up with the name Isotopes. An isotope is a radioactive part of an atom. Due to this being a "radio-controlled" airplane club, the group felt that the name of a "radio-active" part of an atom would be a fitting name for the organization.
Once founded the club leased a piece of property on the southeast corner of Owensboro to establish a flying site. The club operated "Conklin Field" till end of 2010. Due to ownership change and continuing flooding problems, the club elected to move flight operations to Reids Orchard in 2011. "Reid Field" was used for most of 2011 until the US60 bypass extension came rolling through in September, 2011.
After much hard work and dedication of the club members, a new field was found at Lampkin Farm in Philpot, KY. Lampkin Farm is located on a reclaimed strip mine and is home to the Daviess County Antique Farm Machinery Association. Thanks to the Lampkin family, the Isotopes will have a home far into the future.

Why Join Us?
The mission of our club is to promote model aviation and have fun. We want to help you learn and be successful at building and flying model aircraft. We have monthy meetings and in the spring and summer we host numerous training events to help you learn. We also have a dedicated flying site that is available to all members all the time. No worrying about being kicked out of a park or asked to leave a school yard. We are a family oriented organization. Many of our members started as young children and have grown up flying model aircraft. The best part is making new friends and having someone to fly and share the experience with. We encourage you to visit us and see what we have to offer.
We meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month @ Old National Bank, Hwy 54 Owensboro, KY. Or at the club field. Check the home page for location Time is 7:00PM.
